Fifa names Kay Madati as new CCO, and more

FIFA, the governing body of world football, has announced the appointment of Kay Madati as commercial director.

Madati brings over 20 years of experience in the international media, sports and entertainment industries. Prior to Fifa, he led teams across the world at Twitter, Viacom, Facebook, Time Warner and LinkedIn.

In his new role, which he will assume on July 19, Madati will lead Fifa’s business division to improve marketing and digital innovation, in addition to developing and strengthening relationships with business partners.

Madati succeeds Simon Thomas, who left Fifa last October just over a year after taking the job.

“I am honored and delighted to join Fifa at a time when the global media and sporting landscapes are changing so rapidly,” said Madati. “Fifa plays an important role in leading and promoting innovation and creativity in and around football on a global scale and I look forward to developing this further in my role as Commercial Director.”

Fifa General Secretary Fatma Samoura added: “Kay’s experience in leading sales and marketing teams around the world will be a great asset to Fifa in his role as Commercial Director.

“We look forward to working with him to cultivate and expand the myriad opportunities that today’s virtual media landscape offers in football to achieve our goal of making the game truly global. We wish him every success in his new role.
