The Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce its upcoming annual meeting and banquet, including the online auction.

The Facebook auction will open on Friday, April 22n/a at 4:00 p.m. and will close on Monday, April 25and at 4 p.m. Chamber Ambassadors have worked diligently to secure the auction items you won’t want to miss. The auction can be found at HopeHempstead County Chamber Auction.

The theme for this year’s Annual Meeting and Banquet is “The POWER of PURPOSE”. This event will take place on Monday, May 2n/a, 2022 at Hempstead Hall in Hope, Arkansas. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with meals starting at 6:00 p.m. and meeting to follow.

The keynote speaker this year will be Rex Nelson. Rex Nelson is one of the state’s most prominent writers and lecturers. As editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, he writes three columns a week and essays for the cover of the newspaper’s Sunday Perspective section. He is the author of three books – the first comprehensive biography of Hillary Rodham Clinton, a biography of Arkansas educator Ben Elrod, and a collection of his essays on Arkansas. He is also the author of a popular blog known as Rex Nelson’s Southern Fried and makes regular appearances on television and radio.

Nelson served for nearly a decade as Governor Mike Huckabee’s director of policy and communications, then served four years in the administration of President George W. Bush as one of two appointees. the president at the Delta Regional Authority. He was inducted into the Arkansas Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame. In 2016, Governor Asa Hutchinson and the Arkansas Rural Development Commission named Nelson its Rural Lawyer of the Year for the State of Arkansas.

Chamber Board Chairman Nathaniel Holyfield said of this year’s annual meeting, “The Chamber Board and I are delighted to announce the upcoming Chamber Banquet. We are delighted to be able to host this event at Hempstead Hall in a banquet style setting with a catered meal by Amigo Juan’s.

In addition to the keynote speaker, this event will include United Way recognition and awards. The Chamber of Commerce Citizen, Educator, Business and Nonprofit of the Year will be announced. These nomination forms will be available soon and can be dropped off at the chamber office or mailed to PO Box 205. There will be an exciting announcement from the UAHT Foundation regarding the headliner for this year’s concert 46and Annual Watermelon Festival. Tickets for the meeting will cost $30.00 per person.
