The Book Club’s next read is Jabari Asim’s ‘Yonder’
Asim, who is a professor and researcher at Emerson College, has had a prolific and varied literary career, authoring over 20 books and writing for a variety of audiences across all genres.
In Asim’s latest work, the author delves into a historical fiction set in the mid-19th century about a group of slaves who call themselves the “stolen”, while slave owners are known as “thieves”. The book’s story examines the relationship between the two groups in a world where the lives and circumstances of the robbed could change with a quick decision by the owners.
