Although the number of tourists arriving in Budapest is still lower than before the pandemic, more people than expected chose the Hungarian capital for the European Football Championship, according to the business daily Világgazdaság.
Most of the foreigners were in Hungary during the Franco-Portuguese group match.
The Euro 2020 matches took place in Budapest from June 15 to 27, a period during which around 57,000 guests spent 165,000 overnight stays in accommodation in the capital.
Customers stayed in Budapest for almost three nights on average, with 39% of all overnight stays coming from domestic residents.
