As the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed online sales up, what does the “new normal” in e-commerce look like? And what impact does this have on in-store and omnichannel commerce? These questions will be the focus of this year’s RetailDetail Omnichannel & E-Commerce Congress. The congress, which takes place in Antwerp on March 24, has the slogan ‘Retail beyond digital acceleration‘ and an interesting list of speakers – the first of which we can now make public.
All eyes will be on Mark den Butter’s keynote: he is Chief Operations Officer at Ochama, the Dutch company with which the Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com tries to conquer Europe. They do this through an innovative online concept, offering a product range of 7,000 food and non-food products at discount prices. Their fully automated pick-up points have already attracted a lot of attention. Ochama is very ambitious; are you also eager to know their plans?
A recent headline: C&A wants e-commerce to generate half of its sales by 2025. Today, it represents only a fifth of turnover. Going online should (again) attract young buyers to C&A. In addition to its own channels, the fashion chain has also partnered with Zalando. Joris Van Rooy, Chief Digital Officer Europe, will reveal how his company will increase its online sales in just three years.
You don’t have to be a multinational to be successful in cross-border e-commerce, as “local hero” De Gele Flamingo proves: Not only has the Antwerp-based online store for baby products opened its first physical store, but it launched an English version of its online store to take advantage of the growing attention of customers as far away as Australia, China or Kuwait. Their ultimate ambition? “To become the benchmark for babies, children and the art of living,” explains founder Sophie Claes. It promises to be an interesting story.
The RetailDetail Omnichannel & E-Commerce Congress will take place on Thursday 24 March at the RetailDetail’s own event venue, in the Stadsfeestzaal shopping center in Antwerp. Retail Professor Gino Van Ossel (Vlerick Business School) will lead the entire program.
We’ll be announcing a new set of speakers shortly, but don’t wait too long to reserve your place: the auditorium has a capacity of 220 and tends to sell out quickly. Follow this link to find practical information and book your tickets.
