The new location will have a “soft” opening on Friday, October 8

Black Bond Books’ new location in the village of Ladner will welcome bookworms and bibliophiles to browse the shelves of their new location this Friday.

After packing nearly 300 boxes from the previous 15-year-old store in Trenant Park Square, the team is moving into the new store this week in preparation for their soft opening.

The new location is larger, which can more easily accommodate events and gatherings when it’s safe to do so, and it has a whole new, refreshed look, says co-owner Cathy Jesson.

“We had our eye on [the Ladner Village] for a few years because we could see the village change and it was always quite central to Ladner… [It’s] just a really good mix of stores there, and we thought we’d be fine there,” she says.

Black Bond Books has been around since 1963 and now has six locations in the Lower Mainland, but the Ladner store holds a particularly important place in Jesson’s heart.

“The way the community has embraced us and really supported us over the years is built and built. I mean, now we see teenagers who, their mothers brought them when they were toddlers. We see the whole family, and it’s really, really wonderful to see,” she says.

Jesson also thanks the Ladner store team, especially store manager Holly Morgan, for the store’s success and connection within the community.

To visit Black Bond Books’ new location for their soft opening Friday, head to 5052 48th Ave. at Ladner.

Their grand opening is scheduled for late October.
