The Euro 2020 final is just around the corner – but it’s not just the main trophy that’s yet to be won, with a number of individual awards yet to be decided.
Among these is the Golden Boot, the award given to the player who finishes the tournament as the top scorer, and it is always possible for an English player to win it.
As it stands, Cristiano Ronaldo leads the table with five goals, while Czech Patrik Schick has scored the same but is in danger of losing due to recording fewer assists than the Portuguese superstar.
Of course, these two players have since been eliminated from the competition and so there is still a chance that they will be passed.
Harry Kane is probably the best bet to surpass their total, with the England striker currently sitting on four goals, although he has been criticized for his poor start to the tournament.
If Kane scores a few goals and finishes top scorer, it would be all the more impressive as he also won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Raheem Sterling, who so far has three goals and an assist under his belt, also has an outside chance of winning the award, but an Italian player is unlikely to exceed the five-goal mark.
While Italy as a team scored two more goals than England in the tournament, they shared their goals – with Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne, Manuel Locatelli, Matteo Pessina and Federico Chiesa all scoring twice. .
RadioTimes.com has put together everything you need to know about Euro 2020’s top scorers and who needs to step up to win the Golden Boot in 2021.
